Question…

Questioning….oh, how we have so many questions when we begin to embark on our spiritual journey and there are so many options from which to glean answers from these days, so many viewpoints, so many experiences shared by others for our discernment.

A hunger begins to grow within our souls, a need to be satiated takes precedence over other aspects of our days. For as John O’Donohue has so eloquently stated: “Once the soul awakens, the search begins and you can never go back. From then on, you are inflamed with a special longing that will never again let you linger in the lowlands of complacency and partial fulfillment. The eternal makes you urgent.” (John O’Donohue, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom)

During your quest you must embrace the quality of patience and find balance, one of those “easier-said-that-done” tasks to add to your list… Being one who plunges into new experiences 150% I well understand the challenge put forth in this! Finding yourself a mentor or even someone who will simply just listen to your ramblings will help you in developing a new perspective and sense of being as you evolve.

As we walk our new path our viewpoint will keep expanding, changing. For as we incorporate new truths, we will find that old truths no longer serve us, for what is truth anyway…? Each of us creates our truths from our upbringing, our experiences and if we choose not to question we then become susceptible to stagnation and close-mindedness.

My understanding of this human journey, as a soul encased within a body, is to experience life at its fullest, to become all that we can be, to become whole.

When we stop searching, questioning, we stop growing. Simple as that. So question with eagerness, with respect, with discernment and with an open mind, but question, always question…
