“Incredible how all the little changes you make have such a significant outcome.” This was a note I received from a friend regarding my article, A Gift From Spirit.”
I love the sentiment of this statement, for it covers two very important points. First, it mentions that we don’t need to make drastic or large changes in our ways to see a difference and second, that the outcomes that I have experienced have been due to my setting an intent with these changes. It is the difference between just wishing for something to change and of committing to change.
The other observation from this statement is that, when we ask for help, we need to watch for and be aware of the response. Not all answers from Spirit will be what we expect or desire, for only Spirit knows the Big Picture of our lives. Creating an atmosphere of awareness is an important step in our spiritual journey. It allows us to observe and recognize the signs from Spirit, to know that the answers to our prayers have indeed been answered.
Sometimes the answer will be a subtle change in our attitude, our response to situations. It may be hearing from a friend or loved one unexpectedly. It could be, as in my article, the removal of blocks that finally allow events to unfold. We live in a time where instant gratification is demanded. Spirit operates in a different timezone. Our answer may only come in time…
When I teach the tarot, I stress the importance of journaling readings, especially for beginners, so that you can look back and reevaluate the card’s responses. When we write down a very succinct question, one that addresses, very simply, the issue in question, we ensure the clarity and intent of our query. In formulating a clear and simple question, the interpretation of the cards will also be easier to understand. Looking back on our readings, with eyes tempered with new spiritual growth, we will see that our answers had a greater depth that we initially thought.
This same clarity and intent is important to follow when we ask of Spirit, for that which we feel we are lacking. Then, we need to actively open our awareness to look for and interpret the answer being given. Just as in reading the tarot, there are many ways to interpret what is presented in front of us. It takes aspects of faith and openness to realize that the answer is in front of us, awaiting our understanding.
In my article, A Gift From Spirit, I talked of how Spirit answered my requests, yet it took an openness on my part to understand what had been revealed. Coincidence or Synchronicity – it is your choice to accept what occurs in your life. I personally do not believe in coincidence…
If you prefer blindness, keep your eyes closed. If you prefer deafness keep your ears closed. But if you are wise, you will open the windows of your soul so that you can become aware of that mighty, vast power of the spirit which will strengthen and encourage you and make you know how life can be lived and enjoyed to the full. ~ Silver Birch
