I was thinking of my guides and angels and was inspired to share with you my animal spirit guides. When I first started on my path of self-discovery in January of 2011, I was given a vision of a cloudy-white, upwards spiraling, tunnel and about two thirds of the way up this tunnel was a white stallion showing me the way.
In one of my first spiritual development classes, I was told by my teammate, that even before I sat down to do the exercise, all she could see was horses as I approached her. I was surrounded by them and in particular, I had a white horse at my left shoulder.
Being surrounded by horses has come up more than once in my encounters with those perceptive to seeing such things. I have always had a love of horses, riding them when I could as a young girl and even, for a short while, fulfilled a dream of owning my own. J.R. was his name; for Just Right! One of my fondest memories is of entering the stable and hearing his soft neighing at my arrival.
Horses as spirit guides represent teamwork with family, friends and community as horses are herd animals and they stick together for safety and support. They also remind you to call upon your reserves of stamina and strength to get through any ordeal you might be immersed in. They represent movement and the physical freedom to run free.
The white horse represents a time to investigate other spiritual realms and dimensions through meditation, a vision quest or shamanic journeying. They also represent being well protected from negative or harsh psychic attacks. How wonderful for me to have such a white stallion as my spirit animal guide and to be the one to lead the way in this new journey; I feel so blessed.
Raven is my other power animal reflecting my need for solitude and of my spiritual awareness coming to the forefront in my later years. Ravens represent being a spiritual healer and carrying oneself with a reserved air of confidence and strength, knowing what to do and when necessary, doing it quickly.
I am also of the deer people and therefore am highly sensitive and intuitive, often being aware of the feelings of others before they are.
In January 2011 while in meditation, I was transformed into a swan, neck arching gracefully. I looked up the meaning of swan and was delighted to learn the following:
Swan’s wisdom includes the awakening of the power of self, balance and of spiritual evolution; the development of intuitive abilities, divination and grace in dealing with others and commitment. I printed off a compilation of swan’s messages and put it into a card to myself, a card that celebrated my new journey. The cover depicts a swan treading on the water as they do with the message “Spirit Sings…. and the swan is going to spread her wings!” and so I have…..
Many other animal spirit guides have shown up in my life to provide valuable messages as they are needed. They show up in real life and in my art readings. Repeated appearances of bear (healer), wolf (teacher) and owl (wisdom) in these art readings clarify my path.
I have been drawn to the dragonfly and when I was looking for a symbol for my website it was the dragonfly that came to the lead. When looking up it’s meaning it became so apparent as to why:
Dragonfly symbolizes going past self-created illusions that limit our growth and change. They symbolize the sense of self that comes with maturity and remind us that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so.
The acceleration of my spiritual journey this past year has occurred because I am now at a stage where I have the time and energy to devote to my growth. I have sent out my request to the Universe, to Spirit, asking for direction and support in my life’s purpose and I have been shown the way.
Recently I had a white-tailed deer lead me down my street and I look forward to the time of plenty that she represents! I feel the abundance of love, friendships and blessings that are such an integral part of my life and I am grateful.
